CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Elphelt Valentine
CANON: Guilty Gear
CANON REFERENCE: This Wiki is awful and I'm sorry.
AGE: 17; goodness knows how old she is in canon, sorry! NOT VERY???
GENDER: Female
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: 11th grade!
APPEARANCE: BEHOLD! THE ULTIMATE CUTENESS!

PERSONALITY:
Elphelt is about the cutest thing ever, or at least she tries to be. Obsessed with the concept of love and being loved and, of course, having a wonderful and fulfilling life with someone, she is constantly trying to seek out or otherwise acquire a significant other. In this quest, she dons a perfectly adorable wedding dress-style outfit, complete with a bouquet, just in case the best things happen. To be an ideal bride, she must be the pinnacle of grace, beauty, and perfection. Her heart must be on her sleeve at all times, or at least her intentions must be wholly clear. This makes her wife material to the extreme!

There's a problem. She's really not graceful, nor perfect. Her spunk and spontaneity overshadow some of the aforementioned desired qualities. Though her outfit exudes grace and class (so she thinks), its playfulness is apparent. She's clumsy and prone to falling if she gets too enthusiastic about her motion and movement, and has no qualms with smacking someone with her bouquet if they upset her greatly. It's a super rare occasion that she must do this, but one may not call her unprepared! Swift speech, rushed monologues, and slightly neurotic moments mar any meek exterior she might try to present. Though she can be soft spoken in volume, she makes up for it in sheer absurdity of both intent and content. Unafraid to speak her mind, there's very little filter on her emotional ramblings. But one has to watch out if she gets too excited. She may just keel over with a nosebleed. You'll have to excuse her for a bit while she collects herself.

All this positivity hides the ugly truths about her. Her emotions are presented so strongly because she wants them to be. Originally taught to be emotionless and robotic in attitude, she's overcome that “programming” to be vivacious and enthusiastic. Nothing holds her back, simply because she doesn't want it to. In fact, she forces the issue and behavior to an extreme degree, willing herself to be what she considers more human than she once was. It's compensation for a wasted childhood, where she couldn't do anything she wanted to do due to her controlling captors, whose goal was to make her less a person and more a tool of destruction.

She maintains the capacity for said destruction. It's dangerous to get her too worked up or happy, at least truly overjoyed with perfection in sight. There's something akin to a trigger inside her, ready to go off at any given moment, a hidden power that no one wants to see again. On a smaller scale, she caused the deaths of several—an event she mourns to this day, yet tries desperately to forget—and strives to never be that violent again. It is her belief that diligent work on self-improvement has almost entirely negated the possibility of such a thing happening again, but the truth is that no one can possibly know.

Due to such tragedy and controversy, her entire life's story is a lie. If someone slips into her true confidence (which sadly isn't THAT difficult), she reveals to them both her past and her optimism for the future. Loneliness has plagued her for a long time, having been in captivity and mostly without her sister, someone she wants to save with all her heart. But she sticks to her guns on the story until the time is right, after which she may or may not disclose the sordid details of her stolen childhood.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Manipulation of hormones, accompanying high levels of charisma. Elphelt is able to intentionally influence the opinions others have of her by shooting the equivalent of a psychic bullet at them. The extreme result of this is making them (albeit temporarily) fall in love with her, or at least in intense like. It manifested rather late in her youth because it relies on her focusing on her own emotions, and up until that point she had none that she thought her own. Now that her feelings and goals and desires are no longer artificial, she is able to call upon this power to help her causes and... win friends and influence people. Yes.

Previously, this was uncontrolled and more of an aura sort of ability, but something she hopes to do at the Institute is to learn to control it completely. Its strength has increased with her confidence, and the happier and more excited she is, the stronger its potential influence. Others may avoid the influence of this either by calming her down or by simply having a naturally or situationally opposing constitution to the hormones or emotions she targets.

Its effects are not at all permanent, and last only a few minutes at most. People with particularly weak resistance, physical ailments, or a natural inclination to fall for people will find themselves more influenced than usual. People who already like her or who are good friends with her are either particularly susceptible or almost entirely unaffected, up to the player's discretion. This may vary at any given time as plot/situation necessitates.

The downside of all of this is that if she gets herself particularly worked up or overuses the ability, she'll faint with a nice, classy nosebleed to go with it. Yep. If she uses it unintentionally or it gets out of hand on the aura side of things (i.e. not targeted), she may also find herself in said situation.

As an aside, she's incredibly skilled with guns. Please don't give her any.

AU HISTORY:
From a young age, it was easy to tell that Elphelt was different. Almost as soon as she learned to walk, she was taken into custody by a mysterious group that wanted to exploit her unique strengths and fortitude. She was precocious, and quite advanced in normal motor and cognitive skills, and therefore an ideal subject for an unethical set of experiments. The people who took her in raised her to comply with everything they said and desired, taking a vivacious young girl and turning her slowly into a robotic killer. Against her will, and with all cognizance of what they were doing, Elphelt became compliant and let herself be superficially molded into whatever the organization needed. A shred of hope remained beneath all of it, a young lady wanting to make her own choices and to be like the people she killed, the innocent and happy, rather than anything like her captors.

From the age of eight through the age of thirteen, she was their puppet. They called her Marionette, a code name that she relished as a reference to childish games, all negative implications ignored. Her blind optimism and wonder for the world and all its beauty couldn't be completely held back. A few times she tried to circumvent their brainwashing techniques, to shove aside all horrors and prevent the many deaths they forced her to perpetrate. Secretly, she made plans to escape, to pretend until she could run away and hide and take the world on entirely in her own way. The last straw was when they made her slaughter an entire wedding party with an arsenal of guns the likes of which few had ever seen. It became an obsessive fixation from then on, to make amends for destroying such happiness.

Under questionable circumstances, she escaped the group. Taken in by a former enemy, she was held under actual physical lock and key during her early teens, submitting to the harsh treatment as penance for her past attacks. One of them, the leader, was kind and listened to her, believing her to be a force for good. His encouragement and trust gave her hope that she could be more, that her path to real emotion would be fruitful, and that her life was in her own hands at last. Though under heavy guard at all times, her movements restricted and her true freedom still withheld, she persevered in making herself into what she truly wanted to be. It was during this time that she discovered talents that did not include accidental mass murder or robotic brainwashed killing functions.

As time went by, the people she now worked with and admired began to trust her more and more. They let her out for short periods of time—monitored, of course—but all the while she found herself less afraid of herself and more excited about all the world set before her. One fateful day, she gathered her courage and made an honest effort to be human. To walk out and simply be. It was a resounding success. Each person she spoke with seemed more and more utterly charmed by her, and the happier she was, the more attention they paid her. In a jubilant mood, she returned to the leader who believed in her and reported the social success she had achieved. Grimly, he looked her over. He'd heard report from her guardian as well, who suspected that this power was not simply raw charisma, but a special ability. In other words, Elphelt was a mutant, her latent powers awakened by her hard-fought progress.

While they seemed concerned for her health and safety, as well as for those around her, Elphelt was instead overjoyed. People liked her for whatever reason, and though she'd never use it to manipulate people she way she was long manipulated, she couldn't help but turn on her charms from time to time. It was too amazing! It made her happier than anything ever had. Her dreams slowly becoming realized, she found a wedding dress of perfect shape and size, its structure youthful and versatile for combat and social functions. She hated to think about fighting or killing, but with such programming in her past, she knew that if something arose and others needed help, she would assist. Now knowing her true nature, she embraced it, embraced everything she had become, and started to research options for her future.

Then, out of the goodness of his heart, the leader submitted her for consideration to the Xavier Institute. She couldn't have imagined anything greater than being able to be safe yet free, and where those around her would be protected as well. Certainly this would be her time. Her awakening. Her future was bright, and nothing would be able to stop her from being everything she was kept from being for so long. Even starting so late, she was confident that the school would give her all the tools she needed to finally become successful.

NETWORK SAMPLE:
Text;
Good afternoon. I'm sorry to bother you, but I was hoping you could help me. I lost something very important, so if you see it, please let me know! My scarf went missing while I was going to pick up lunch. I think someone stepped on it, because I definitely felt a weird tug. I was more worried about being on time, so I didn't stop, but now I'm missing it. It's pretty cold outside, isn't it? If you find it, I'd like to have it back! It's pink with red bows on each end. It's really important.

Thank you!
